An instant cold pack is a single-use, disposable first-aid device that gets cold on demand without needing a refrigerator or freezer.
How It Works
- Two compartments: It contains an outer plastic bag with dry chemical crystals (like urea or ammonium nitrate) and an inner pouch filled with water.
- Chemical reaction: Squeezing or snapping the pack breaks the inner water pouch. The water mixes with the solid chemicals in an endothermic reaction, which rapidly absorbs heat and drops the pack’s temperature within seconds.
- Duration: It stays cold for roughly 10 to 15 minutes, making it ideal for immediate, temporary relief.
